This rally is going against the general trend with rallies nowadays and gets bigger every year. The always improving site is a big factor, as is its close locality and this year the car parking jam will be addressed. The popular Hartbeespoort Holiday resort has lots of grass, trees, ablutions, camping and caravanning facilities, swimming pools, high water slide, trampolines, a fully-fledged skatepark, putt-putt course, jumping castles, tar roads, better access and traffic control, and general revamping is ongoing. There will also be Workshop, Spares, Exhibitor's Stands, Flea Markets, Food Stalls, Advanced Life Support Hospital. And 3km away the Hartebeespoort Dam town and surrounds are Gauteng's booming playground.
Silver Creek Mountain BandDay band Friday and Saturday - Rod Dry, Wayne Coughlan, Carl Frayne
Four Bands On FridayAnother change/improvement is the music, with a triple bill on the Friday, Dixie Hillbillies, Madison Band and Clint & Co with Ghapi.
Clint & Co and Ghapi
Clint & Co, there is no other band that can rock a rally crowd like them, will team up with the legendary Ghapi.
will be a rollicking 5-piece doing a Country/Folk sound combined with big and pitch perfect harmonies that would blow the minds of the people who love and appreciate good music, music with soul, music with a story, music that will make you think.
The Dixie Hillbillies
are so hillbilly their lead man's name is Jethro, and they do hillbilly rock, rock and roll, Stones, Creedence and all that but Jethro, proving that a good musician can do anything, has also played for the Durban and Joburg Philharmonic orchestras. The 4 piece band performs a huge variety of music, with many genres of music covered by this awesome band: Commercial, Bluegrass and "Hillbilly, Rock", Rock, Country, Reggae, Jazz as well as Cultural Heritage Music (Brenda Fassi, Johnny Clegg, Mango Groove, Bright Blue, Soweto String Quartet etc). Their repertoire is ideal for any South African audience. The "party songs" include "Have you ever seen the Rain" (CCR), "Proud Mary" (CCR), "Paint it Black" (Rolling Stones), "Duelling Banjos" (the movie Deliverance), Bob Marley Medley, "Sweet Home Alabama" (Lynnyrd Skynyrd, "Blue Suede Shoes" (Elvis), "Brown Eyed Girl" (Van Morrison), "Thunderstruck" (AC-DC) and many more...Clint of Clint & Co is forever saying "What a band! and that says it all about this favourite rally band. If they can't get the party rocking, no-one can.
Saturday Different - Cunning Brad
And something different for Saturday night - Alter Irving, with the odd input from Clint. Brad Cunningham (Cunning Brad) and his guys are the most amazing live band. Professional (both on the stage, and off) , entertaining, versatile (fabulous equipment and sound) - definite crowd pleasers. Brad goes out of his way to make your event one to remember forever - plays all genres of music, you name it and he will play it. You will rock till you drop! Something to suit everyone.
Improvements are ongoing, the latest being a large double lane bridge for easy access to new camping sites.
It is a very busy rally, with Saturday having Freestyle MX, guys jumping and somersaulting bikes and sticking out all sorts of body appendages while in the air.
And the wrestlers - ah, the wrestlers - what a show with Crow, the tall dangly man forever getting thrown around and other wrestlers bouncing on each other.
