Bike SA Magazine – no more print, all on-line

Bike SA magazine issued the following press release today:

After 42 years as the biggest motorcycle magazine in Africa (and, for much of its life, the biggest selling in the Southern Hemisphere also) we will be no longer be printing Bike SA, but will concentrate on our website and social media. Despite being in its infancy, and with much more development to come, the website already has nearly 100,000 views per month, and should receive more with the help of Bike SA’s Facebook page of 325000 people, plus the aid of the Simon Fourie Facebook Page, the Offroad & Adventure SA page, Donovan and Simon’s friended-to-capacity profiles, Bike SA Instagram, Bike SA Twitter and a host of popular groups and other pages. The good news is that Bike SA will end its print life still as the biggest selling motorcycle magazine in the country and on good terms with everyone, without the need for lawyers and/or angry debt collectors.
So, with the Fourie Snr approaching 73 years-old and still able to change direction as quickly as he can on a bike, this is not the end, just a change in direction. And, with more time for Donovan to dedicate to social media and Simon to rallies and things (Rhino, Impala, Paradise, Scooter, Namibia Desert Run, Hartbees Resort…) that lot will prosper even more.
Thank you to the hundreds of thousands of people who read the print mag over the years, to those who contributed and to the advertisers. Keep an eye on the website over the next few months – www.bikesa.net. It’s going to be fun.
